Why use electric underfloor heating

Electric underfloor heating is available in many formats, the most common form of electric underfloor heating is in mat form of various sizes that can be simply laid out on the floor and your flooring product laid over the top.

Allbrite offer three forms of electric underfloor heating to cater for the needs of each individual requirements. All of Allbrite's electric underfloor heating can be used as a primary heating source (no need for radiators) providing it is installed correctly.

When electric underfloor heating is correctly planned and specified it can be very efficient to run and save you upto 40% on your heating bills compared to gas central heating.

Electric underfloor heating has become the most viable form to heat your home when installed into a new build, this is because houses are required to have a larger amount of insulation and has very little heat loss compared to older houses.

Due to the way electric underfloor heating works it does not need to be buried into the screed and can therefore work more as an on demand heating system, when installing electric underfloor heating you would usually insulate it from the screed meaning you are not wasting energy into your screed.

Is electric underfloor heating really efficient?

Electric underfloor heating can be extremely efficient, the most efficient of the electric underfloor heating systems being the ribbon underfloor heating and the carbon underfloor heating which can offer massive reductions on your heating bills.

Due to the fact that electricity is renewable there is many ways to suppliment your running cost in the future via Solar Photovoltaic panels or Wind turbines meaning it is possible to be self sufficent in the future.

The is a train of thought that you it is efficient to use your floor slab as a thermal store to radiate the heat out into the building, however with new build properties this is not as cost effective as originally thought as most houses only need a small amount of energy to heat the room.

By using your slab as a thermal store you are actually using more energy than you actually require to heat the room, this is because before the energy starts heating the room it has to heat through 4 inches of screed. Once the heat gets through the screed the room will heat up quickly but you still have several hours of wasted energy radiating from your slab.

With electric underfloor heating there is very little delay or energy wastage as it does not have to heat the slab, this means that the actual energy in Kilowatts used is less with electricity than it is with that of gas or oil.
