Solar Photo Voltaic more commonly known as solar PV is one of the fastest growing renewable technologies that will dramatically reduce your electricity bills by generating electric from the natural rays from the sun.
Solar PV panels are available in different sizes and power output giving the flexibility to choose the right panel for your requirements, solar panels for touring (i.e. boats, caravans and campers) tend to be smaller than those used for domestic and commercial solar photovoltaic installations.
The average household will purchase a solar array of approximately 1.5kw - 2kw which, dependent on lifestyle, can produce a large proportion to all of the electricity that your house hold requires.
The
solar photovoltaic technology is suitable for retro fit as well as new builds, the problem is, too many people will say "
Solar PV is a waste of time, it never pays for itself", this is quite far from the truth and it will pay for itself based on a number of factors ;-
- Energy prices will go up in the future
- New generation tarrifs Available 2010
- Renewable Obligation Certification
With the correct advise and system the
solar PV installation can pay for itself quicker than you think, not only can
photovoltaic panels pay for themselves they can increase the value of the property due to its high efficiency.
Solar photovoltaic panels work by transforming the light energy from the sun into electricity, the electricity is then either used, stored or exported back to your electricity provider.
There are two types of installation, A grid connected system and an Island system. The grid connected system is used to export unused electricity that has been generated by the solar panels back to your electricity supplier, an Island system is where the electricity is stored in batteries and used when it is needed.
The most common installation is a grid connected photovoltaic system as revenue can be made and less space and maintainance is required.
