Under Vinyl Heating with Latex

Best for installing under vinyl heating in bathrooms and kitchens

We would recommend the latex option for installing under vinyl heating in bathrooms and kitchens.

Floor Preparation

It is important that the sub floor is flat and smooth.

Installation Steps

  • Dry lay your Easy-Heat insulation (cut to shape with a sharp knife)
  • Once you are happy that all the boards will fit, remove the boards remembering where they will go.
  • Mix your and spread rapid set flexible tile adhesive over your subfloor (3mm notch trowel) and replace the Easy heat insulation applying a bit of pressure to ensure it bonds.
  • Allow the flexible adhesive to set, if using rapid set flexible adhesive you should be able to walk on the insulation within 2 hours.
  • Lay down your ribbon heating mats using the double sided tape on each end of the heating mats.
  • If necessary we recommend the use of our high adhesive tape to secure the edges
  • Route the cold leads (live & neutral) to a junction box just above skirting board level
  • Check the resistance of the heating elements matches with the resistance chart in installation manual
  • Connect the cold leads using our 5 lever quick connectors
  • Mix and spread your latex level compound to a depth of 3mm making it as smooth as possible.
  • Once the level compound has set, apply a further 3mm of latex making it very smooth using a float
  • Once the latex has set lay your vinyl or safety floor as normal
  • See Electrical section for setting up electrics, if installing in a wet area please see grounding kits
  • Sit back and enjoy!

The floor build-up consists of; Under Vinyl - Latex Installation
  • Vinyl or Safety Floor (2 - 5mm)
  • Latex Level Compound (6mm)
  • Ribbon Underfloor Heating (2mm)
  • Easy-Heat Insulation (10 - 50mm)
  • Flexible Adhesive (3mm)
  • Concrete / Wood Subfloor

Under Vinyl Heating with HeatPak

Suitable for 'dry' areas

The floor build-up consists of;
  • Vinyl or Safety floor (2 - 5mm)
  • HeatPak (7mm)
  • Ribbon Underfloor Heating (2mm)
  • Therm-All Insulation (6mm)
  • Concrete / Wood Subfloor

The Heat Pak installation option is better suited to conservatories and areas where vinyl floor is to be used that are considered ‘non wet’ areas. The overall build-up of this floor is slightly less than the latex option and it is arguably an easier installation process because there are less wet products used.

Floor Preparation

It is important that the sub floor is flat and smooth, if necessary it may be advisable to lay Latex level compound prior to installation.

Installation Steps

  • Roll out your 6mm therm-all insulation and cut so it covers the whole floor
  • Lay you ribbon underfloor heating mats on the insulation.
  • Use the double sided tape on the mats to stick the underfloor heating mats to the insulation
  • Where required use additional high adhesive tape to ensure the heating mats are secured
  • Route the cold leads (live & neutral) to a junction box just above skirting board level
  • Check the resistance of the heating elements matches with the resistance chart in installation manual
  • Connect the cold leads using our 5 lever quick connectors
  • The Heat Pak is laid in two layers at right angles
  • One side of the Heat Pak has adhesive on it, on the first layer make sure the adhesive is face up, the second layer must have the adhesive face down.
  • Once the entire floor has been covered you can cover it with your chosen vinyl.
  • Sit back and enjoy!
